The symptom of disequilibrium is encountered very frequently in medical practice, yet the medical training system in the United States trains very few subspecialists to care for this population of adult patients, and even fewer for pediatric patients. There are probably several factors that have led to this mismatch between supply (small number of subspecialists) and demand (large population of patients who need care).
