Sexual Counseling and Sexual Education Using Methods of Positive Psychotherapy
摘要
This chapter examines the role of Positive Psychotherapy (PPT after Peseschkian) in sexual counseling and education, emphasizing how early childhood experiences shape sexual development, behaviors, and attitudes. Based on Peseschkian’s model, it explores the distinction between primary (emotional) and secondary (social) capacities, demonstrating how these influence an individual’s perception of relationships and intimacy. The chapter introduces the Balance Model, which integrates four dimensions—body-senses, performance/knowledge, social relationships, and fantasy/spirituality—to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding sexuality. A key focus is on the importance of age-appropriate, scientifically accurate, and non-judgmental sex education, as lack of information often leads to misconceptions, risky behaviors, and psychological distress. The chapter provides practical guidelines for parents, educators, and counselors, advocating for open dialogue and trust to foster healthy sexual development. It highlights strategies for addressing common concerns, such as gender identity, social influences, and emotional challenges during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. The chapter ultimately promotes a holistic, psychologically sound approach to sexual counseling, ensuring individuals develop a balanced, positive, and responsible relationship with their own sexuality.
