Positive Pedagogy and Counseling
摘要
Pedagogy, as a science, evolves and benefits from the theories and advancements of various disciplines. In contemporary society, with its rapidly changing social, economic, religious, and technological landscape, teachers face the challenge of educating a dynamic and evolving generation of students. Despite their immaturity, students today exhibit greater knowledge, independence, and a desire for self-expression. These changes create situations where teachers must address the needs of children and adolescents to understand themselves, develop self-awareness, and use their own resources for self-affirmation, self-improvement, and personal growth. As a result, the professional role of the teacher is increasingly tested. In response to these challenges, educators are calling for a new approach to teaching and rethinking the teacher-student relationship. This requires teachers to acquire new psychological skills, particularly in conflict-free communication. The methodology of Positive Psychotherapy (PPT), developed by N. Peseschkian, offers valuable support to teachers in this context. Through our practice of providing systematic training and supervision for teachers—once a month over the course of a school year, led by qualified psychotherapists—we have gained practical experience in applying psychotherapy to education. Positive Psychotherapy, a short-term psychodynamic approach, has proven to be an effective method for fostering new behaviors in teachers, which in turn helps students navigate their own personal development.
