This chapter introduces the crucial performance of NbS in terms of microclimate regulation and thermal comfort improvement, focusing first on the natural processes and features of plants, and then on the different computational approaches currently available to measure such performances. These approaches allow for modelling and simulating the effect of NbS in urban areas to improve outdoor thermal comfort and microclimate regulation in relation to climate change impacts and environmental issues (described in Chaps. 1 and 2 ). More specifically, the existing tools are analyzed in depth, along with the input parameters required. Two computational approaches are then selected according to the requirements defined for their integration in a design process and tested on a typical urban canyon with different NbS.

摘要
