In the field of Enterprise Architecture (EA), the EA model (EAM) plays a crucial role. However, the topic of EAM quality is not well researched, negatively impacting not only actual practitioners in the field of EA, but also educators and researchers in EA. This research proposal outlines addressing this issue by investigating the attributes and corresponding guidelines that influence EAM quality. To support this investigation, a theory for EAM quality needs to be devised. Furthermore, it is highly desirable to obtain a quality framework specifically geared to support EAM quality. All these research activities require establishing at least a basic theory of EAMs and EA modelling, as well as an applied ontology that can serve to express the relevant topics.
