3D Printing Learning in University Library Makerspaces
摘要
During recent years, many universities have introduced makerspaces into their libraries to provide students with access to digital fabrication tools such as 3D printing. This chapter explores how as non-departmental spaces on campus, libraries provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff from different faculties to experiment with 3D printing and develop their additive manufacturing skills. Through a case study of the Media and Maker Commons at Simon Fraser University, Canada, we describe the challenges of providing access to 3D printing equipment, training materials, and support, and discuss how university library makerspaces provide an environment for users to begin their 3D printing learning journeys.
