The availability of a trained additive manufacturing (AM) workforce is one of the stumbling blocks for widespread AM adoption by industry and maximising value from this disruptive technology. In this chapter we review the strategies for post-graduate education designed to equip students with subject specific multidisciplinary knowledge, as well as professional skills required by industry. Using the example of the MSc in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing programme delivered by the University of Nottingham, we discuss the core training aspects and the teaching approaches to embed multidisciplinary and professional skills development within the syllabus. The chapter focuses on benefits and challenges of training a student group with diverse backgrounds and the role of cohort-focused problem-based teaching, as well as on the positive impact of training in a leading research environment on graduate employability prospects.

摘要
