Planning and Managing: Co-developing a Framework Addressing Self-stigma in People Living with HIV
摘要
This case study describes a collaborative project facilitated and managed by a health psychology led public health consultancy in 2021–2022, aimed at addressing HIV self-stigma in London. Commissioned by a partnership focused on reducing HIV infections and stigma, the consultancy was tasked with developing an empowerment programme framework based on evidence and best practices. The case study details the systematic approach and collaborative process used in developing this framework. The project followed a structured four-stage plan: project initiation, community consultation, iterative co-development, and final presentation. Central to this process was the Community of Practice, which included both experts and individuals with lived experience. Adopting an Agile approach, the consultancy facilitated flexible and ongoing feedback, essential for tackling the complex issue of self-stigma. The role of the consultancy evolved from traditional experts to facilitators, highlighting the importance of co-creation and collaborative input. The chapter underscores the value of engaging diverse perspectives and adapting project management methods for effective collaboration. Key insights include the impact of self-stigma, the significance of co-creation, and the crucial role of facilitation skills. This approach not only made the framework more relevant but also demonstrated the importance of leveraging collective expertise to address complex health challenges.
