Management of Double Incontinence: Urinary Incontinence in the Presence of Fecal Incontinence
摘要
Fecal and urinary incontinence share a number of risk factors, and there is a high prevalence of concurrent urinary incontinence among individuals with fecal incontinence. Coexisting urinary incontinence should be considered when assessing patients with fecal incontinence and, if present, needs to be considered in the treatment plan. This chapter addresses the assessment and management of urinary incontinence in patients with fecal incontinence (i.e., double incontinence). A theoretical perspective for understanding symptoms of double incontinence is presented. Selected evidence-based interventions that may be beneficial for both urinary and fecal incontinence are highlighted.
