Longitudinal Clerkships to Promote Social Accountability
摘要
This chapter details transition from rhetoric to reality in developing and making sustainable Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships (LICs) with a focus on Social Accountability (SA). LICs and SA can fit together like ‘hand ‘n glove’. Over time, the LIC program allows for meaningful, trustworthy relationships to build and a series of sequential events for successful SA impact and sustainability. Thus, the LIC provides a natural entry point for the whole medical school and university becoming and being recognised as socially accountable. Integrating the concepts provided in the other chapters of this book, this chapter presents the practical realities for LICs, using a developmental framework from planning to doing, to the impact of SA activities with the LIC and their local community thriving on the sustainable success.
