Transition Curves and Superelevation
摘要
In Chap. 8 , the notion of simple curve was introduced. This chapter delves more into the compilated scenario where the radius of the curve varies, i.e., the transitional curves. Transitional curves are normally introduced to ease vehicles entry from one straight portion of a road to another while at the same time overcoming the effect of centrifugal force that tries to push the vehicle of the road. Another way of overcoming this effect is by raising one side of the road, i.e., super elevation. This chapter shows how both transitional and superelevation are computed.
