Geopolitics has significantly shaped the post-Dayton era in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and global trends have profoundly impacted the country’s stability and its path towards European integration. These include the rise of right-wing populism in Western countries, the assertive foreign policies of Russia and China, and the evolving role of Turkey in the region. This chapter will examine these trends, with a primary focus on recent geopolitical dynamics and their impact on Bosnia’s internal political landscape, economic development, and security situation. In the Dayton Peace Agreement (DPA), the analysis will prioritize the recent period of significant geopolitical change.
