The Policy Impact of Education Censorship Since 2020
摘要
Prior to a review of the policy impact of education censorship, an overview of bipartisan support for neoliberal education policies is documented. These trends are a necessary precursor for understanding the current impact of education censorship that has evolved out of public disinvestment and for-profit educational expansion. These neoliberal shifts have been fueled by fear-based media narratives useful to shape reform and polarize Americans. To follow, a legislative analysis of education censorship spans race and diversity curricula, sports, restrooms and gender-affirming care bans, and the evolving attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and parents’ rights movement.
