In the Bontang watershed there are 8 flood-prone areas, among others: Telihan area, Kanaan area, Disnaker Resident area, Bethlehem & Bontang Permai Resident area, Imam Bonjol area, Jl. A. Yani, Awang Long and Sendawar area, Rawa Indah area and Jl. KS. Tubun. Bontang City experiences flooding problems, although many flood control efforts have been made from planning to construction. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct an evaluation and integrated management in this area. To secure the results of the development and development of Bontang City in accordance with the direction of regional development and regional development plans, it is necessary to conduct a detailed study of regional planning, especially in terms of flood control. To obtain a flood control building construction that meets the criteria in accordance with current conditions, both in terms of environmental, technical, economic, and social and cultural aspects, it is necessary to carry out the Bontang River SID (Survey, investigation and Design). In connection with the above, in Fiscal Year 2023, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government through the Public Works, Spatial Planning and Public Housing Office intends to carry out Bontang River SID Work in order to realize and realize the construction of flood control buildings so that the utilization and utilization of water resources in the Bontang City area can take place harmoniously and optimally, in accordance with the needs and carrying capacity of the environment.
