The Effect of Video on Safety and Work Knowledge of Vocational Students in Surabaya
摘要
Serious work accidents in the construction industry require efforts to be controlled to minimize the number of accidents. The occurrence of work accidents causes physical injury and lowers the mental spirit of workers. The leading cause of work accidents is human factors, including a lack of knowledge about work safety. Vocational high school students must be equipped with work safety knowledge while still in school. Understanding work safety knowledge in students requires suitable media to convey it. This research aims to determine the effect of video as a learning medium on work safety attitudes and expertise. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with video treatment. The respondents of this study were 30 students of SMKN 3 Surabaya. Data collection used a questionnaire. The material in the video is related to the definition of K3, the use of personal protective equipment, and K3 motivation. The analysis used a t-test. The results of the analysis showed that video learning media had a positive effect on the attitudes and knowledge of vocational high school students regarding work safety. The results of this study indicate that video is an easy-to-understand learning media to provide skills and shape work safety attitudes to prospective students in construction projects. Workers who know about work safety can reduce work accidents in the construction sector.
