This chapter renovates the Freudian categories presented earlier by deepening the links between the “I” and “we” that deserve to be praised and honored, versus the “others” that deserve to be ousted, if not killed. To this extent, the violence is considered right and just because it targets the enemies of the nation and is used to restore the national ideal. By manipulating the concept of “truth” and “reality,” Donald Trump and his allies do not only aim to build an illiberal order but more importantly to create a new reality that corresponds to their own desires. The resulting “i-realization” of the “reality” is based on both the destruction of the “old” individual and collective references and the construction of an idealized desired ensemble that denies the oppositions, critiques, and alternatives. In order to implement such a “de-realization,” violent force is needed to compel people and political parties to conform to these messianic views.
