Cloud-Based Technologies Necessitate Extra Security Considerations Inside the Digital Construction
摘要
Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the Lean Construction (LC) approaches reinforce the advancement of the design and construction field because of their favourable impact throughout the project life cycle. Merging BIM and Lean Construction enhances data management, information flow control, cost-saving, time-saving, and improved quality. Combining BIM and Lean construction approaches is the first step in developing and departing from the traditional method paradigm. Then, the continuous improvement concept and the need for adequate data management methods resulted in the rise of cloud systems and the current pace of refinement. Working on cloud servers helps teams from multiple locations engage, makes data more accessible and integrates data in a Common Data Environment (CDE), which improves information exchange. Despite the pragmatic influence of the cloud system, the security and the protection of shared data are still hurdles and require further attention. The lack of security awareness could obstruct the usage of digital construction, and the cybercrime probation rate could increase because of the ease of data accessibility and its misuse. In addition, A lack of security consciousness has a detrimental impact on decision-making since the decision will underestimate the security factor that could cause a vast future problem. The paper shall focus on the security concept from the BIM and Lean Construction perspectives, the ability of design to support crime prevention, the reasons behind the use of cloud systems, highlight the business influence upon the design and construction market, emphasise the lack of security attention impact on the development process, and highlight threats of using a cloud system.
