Effective oncology patient education is essential for optimal patient outcomes, yet it is often constrained by the complexity of medical information, time limitations, and diverse patient needs. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have paved the way for innovative, personalized, and interactive educational tools that may overcome these challenges. This study evaluates the effectiveness of AI-driven educational tools in enhancing knowledge retention, treatment adherence, and patient satisfaction among oncology patients, while also considering the perspectives of healthcare professionals. In a quantitative study design, 150 oncology patients and 50 healthcare professionals were enrolled and randomized into two groups: a control group receiving standard education methods and an intervention group utilizing AI-based educational platforms. Over a 3-month period, outcomes including knowledge retention, adherence to treatment protocols, and satisfaction were rigorously measured using validated instruments and statistical analyses. The intervention group demonstrated substantial improvements, with knowledge retention increasing from 46 to 81% (p < 0.001), adherence rates improving from 72 to 89% (p = 0.003), and satisfaction scores rising from 3.5/5 to 4.6/5 (p < 0.001). Notably, subgroup analyses revealed that early-stage and younger patients benefited most from the intervention. Healthcare professionals reported that the AI tools not only alleviated their workload but also significantly enhanced patient engagement. These findings indicate that AI-driven educational interventions can revolutionize oncology education by delivering tailored information and improving both patient outcomes and the efficiency of healthcare delivery. Future research should explore strategies to address digital literacy barriers and ensure that such technologies maintain the empathetic aspects of patient care.
