Two American Catholic Universities, Misericordia University and Alvernia University, created an international, interprofessional, and intercollegiate service-learning experience to Belize for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology graduate and undergraduate students. Over 10 days, these students strive to live out the mission of the trip: to provide sustainable education and rehabilitation services to Belizean community members, caregivers, and healthcare workers. The faculty created the Three ‘I’ Model, which consists of three pillars: interprofessional, intercollegiate, and international, as a guide for students. When in Belize, students participate in interprofessional group work and daily journal assignments. The impact of this experience on student learning, as well as the strengths and challenges, will be highlighted from a student perspective. Also, this chapter provides a model (Three ‘I’ Model) for implementing interprofessional, intercollegiate, and international services with a focus on creating sustainable rehabilitation and education.
