Information Technology for Creating Adaptive Geointerfaces Based on Spatial Data Informativeness Assessment

The paper describes information technology for creating adaptive user interfaces for multisubject geographic information systems oriented to support decision making in the field of management of socio-economic development of the region. The adaptability of the interface for different users is implemented based on the assessment of pragmatic and semantic characteristics of spatial data informativeness. The proposed information technology is based on the mental model of the user and the model of user information needs. The information technology allows selecting from a set of available data the most informative data from the point of view of the problem solved by the user, taking into account the characteristics of a particular user. Based on the selected data, the user’s geointerface is synthesised using standard geovisualisation tools included in the multisubject information system. The result of the technology is a geointerface consisting of the elements most useful for solving the problem of decision support for a particular user. Conceptual and ontological modelling methods were used in this work. The Wu-Palmer Similarity Measure was used to calculate semantic similarity of concepts. Further development of research can be associated with the development of methods of automatic creation and replenishment of users’ mental models based on the analysis of digital traces.
