The surge in eSports popularity and investments has spurred academic interest, yet a comprehensive view of literature on eSports consumer behavior is lacking. This paper addresses this gap by analyzing behaviors such as usage, purchasing intent, word-of-mouth, community engagement, co-production, and new player recruitment, exploring influencing psychological, environmental, personal, and product factors. Based on the psychological field theory, we reviewed 59 journal articles published until August 2024. Previous studies have focused on eSports consumption intentions and the motivational and product factors that influence it, while personal and environmental influences remain understudied. Our findings outline future research directions to guide the healthy development of the eSports industry.
