The Yi people are one of the ethnic minorities in China. The Yi character, with its unique character structure, rich historical connotation, and profound ethnic cultural heritage, holds significant value for academic research and cultural dissemination. However, with the popularization of simplified Chinese characters, the number of people capable of recognizing and understanding Yi character has been decreasing, and this precious cultural heritage is quietly fading from the collective memory of the Yi people. This study aims to explore innovative strategies for the graphical design of Yi character, transforming traditional Yi characters into graphic symbols with modern aesthetics through contemporary design language, and subsequently developing a series of cultural creative products. Through the integration of culture and design, the Yi character is endowed with new visual expressions while promoting its application and dissemination within a multicultural context. Using the KANO model to analyze the needs of visitors and consumers regarding Yi character cultural products, this study derives the following key conclusions: (1) The KANO model effectively identifies different user needs for Yi character cultural products. Consumers developed an emotional connection to Yi culture during personalized customization, providing an important basis for the precise positioning of cultural creative products. (2) The introduction of customization options significantly enhances user satisfaction with cultural products. Users particularly appreciated personalized involvement in adjustable features like size and color, effectively increasing the Product Index (PI) of cultural products. (3) Through interactive platform design, users could not only participate in the product design process but also deepen their understanding of the meanings of Yi character during the interaction, thereby reducing cross-cultural cognitive barriers to some extent and promoting cross-cultural communication. Cultural products can establish a positive interaction between commercial value and cultural preservation, promoting the sustainable development of intangible cultural heritage. This study provides a practical reference for the dissemination and innovative application of Yi character in the contemporary design context, aiming to demonstrate its application value in the interaction design of personalized customization and cultural dissemination.
