The concept of infographics has evolved, integrating data visualization, visual narratives, illustrations, 3D representations, text, and images to communicate complex data sets or narrative information visually. This paper explores the various visual resources used in infographics, emphasizing illustration as a key tool in Information Design (ID) to enhance clarity and engagement. The objectives are: a) to highlight the role of images, particularly illustration, in ID communication; b) to discuss layout strategies that prioritize illustration; and c) to present practical examples demonstrating its effectiveness. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study aims to address the proposed objectives by compiling insights from scholars and professionals in the ID field. It emphasizes the role of illustration as a fundamental resource in infographic composition and to enhance reader engagement. Additionally, the study examines key principles for the effective use of illustration in ID, ensuring its contribution to visual organization and information clarity. Practical examples are also presented, demonstrating how illustration plays a crucial role in structuring layouts and effectively communicating information. Proper use of visual resources guides the reader, facilitating content accessibility and comprehension. However, these resources must align with ID principles to ensure clarity and coherence. Illustration plays a crucial role in ID, contributing aesthetically, structurally, and informatively. It attracts the reader’s attention, organizes information within the layout, and serves as an essential element in communicating messages effectively. Beyond decoration, it enhances understanding and engagement, making the infographic not only visually appealing but also an efficient tool for knowledge transmission.

摘要
