Design of Bionic Inspection Robot for High-Voltage Transmission Line Based on Cross-Cultural Design Concept

This study explores the design and application of a chameleon-inspired bionic robot for high-voltage transmission line inspection based on cross-cultural design principles, aiming to address the different demands in power inspection work across various cultural backgrounds. With the “Belt and Road” initiative driving the expansion of global power transmission networks, especially the increase in cross-border cooperation projects, power inspection equipment must adapt to the operational environments and cultural habits of different countries and regions. This study takes the chameleon as the bionic object and integrates cross-cultural design principles to propose a high-voltage power inspection robot solution suitable for diverse international operational environments. Based on cross-cultural design theory and Hofstede’s cultural value theory, the study first analyzes the cultural differences and needs of power inspection personnel in China and Thailand, constructing a cross-cultural bionic product design model. Secondly, through modular design and the integration of chameleon bionic features, the robot achieves flexibility and cultural adaptability in structure and function. Finally, the robot’s design is optimized based on the cultural value orientations of the target users, enhancing its acceptance in cross-cultural contexts. This study not only addresses inspection technical issues but also provides new practical insights for engineering product design in cross-cultural contexts. The design has broad application prospects in the global power market, effectively promoting the international development of power inspection equipment.
