In recent years, the purpose of tourism has diversified to meet the various interests and tastes of individuals. Content tourism, in which tourists visit places where movies, TV dramas, animations and other content are produced, has been attracting attention. Based on the above background, by integrating web geographic information systems (Web-GIS), a sightseeing information system, a location information system and a social network service (SNS), the purpose of the present study is to develop a system that supports not only tourists but also local residents to engage in content tourism on foot by utilizing location information. Chofu City, Tokyo, was selected as the operation target area for the system. In order to use the functions right from the start of the system operation, a total of 1,510 spots were registered beforehand. The system was in operation for approximately two months, from December 30, 2023 to January 21, 2024. As a result of the operation, the system had 55 users, 17 sightseeing routes were created, and 3 new spots and 2 comments were submitted. Based on the evaluation results of the questionnaire survey for users, it is clear that the system is useful for deepening users’ understanding of the region and improving their health. It is also suggested that the system is effective in supporting content tourism, and its continued use is expected.
