We present a design-driven study that explores the role and challenges of micro-metropolises in the year 2080. Using the Design Fiction method, we construct fictional but plausible future scenarios, centering on Shalun as a core case study. The Design Fiction project uses the medium of newspapers, Shalun Daily, to present scenarios in 2080, offering a familiar and engaging platform for readers to explore future issues. The narrative style of newspapers ensures clear information dissemination, allowing residents of the city to publish their perspectives and present a multi-faceted view of the future society. We have implemented a LLM-based News Agent to produce newspaper articles of Shalun Daily. A pilot study has been conducted to investigate how news readers, as well as newspaper producers, utilize the news agent to explore issues in future living.
