HISTORICAL-IMMERSION – Immersive Memory Reproduction System Based on 3D Scanning and Multi-modal Interaction

In recent years, virtual reality (VR) technology has introduced new interactive methods for historical memory and immersive experiences, yet it still faces challenges such as insufficient interaction between individual and collective memory, limitations of static scenes, and imperfect multimodal design. To address these issues, this project proposes a VR memory reconstruction system based on 3D scanning and point cloud technology. Taking the historical context of China in 2008 as a foundation, the system explores the multidimensional expression of social memory by reconstructing major events such as the Beijing Olympics and the Wenchuan Earthquake. This system provides an innovative immersive experience tool for historical education and public awareness, enabling the dynamic reconstruction of historical scenes and the integration of individual and collective memory. It helps students and the public gain a more intuitive and profound understanding of the complexity and emotional depth of historical events, thereby enhancing the appeal of historical education and the public’s cognitive level of history.
