Remodeling a house, particularly a single room, can be complex. Typically, users rely on tile samples, color swatches, or CAD simulations on 2D screens or in VR to preview results. However, these methods lack a seamless connection between virtual and physical worlds. This research addresses how to enable instant, immersive interior design while bridging that gap. We developed ARID (Augmented Reality Interior Design), a system that uses VR/AR technology to allow users to perform real-time interior design adjustments within their existing physical spaces. By wearing the Meta Quest 3 VR headset, users can naturally employ controllers and hand gestures to select spatial elements (walls, ceilings, or floors) and make immediate changes. They can apply virtual tiles, adjust paint colors, or set the selected surface to transparent mode to see through the original material underneath. Results are visualized in under five minutes. This approach undergoes with a preliminary test of scenario demonstration to test the functionality of system prototype. It introduces a novel and immersive way to provide real-time interior design plan but also reduces waste associated with traditional physical samples. ARID is an ongoing project currently focused on bathroom remodeling, with future plans to expand the system to support the interior design of entire houses.
