A Study on the Emotional Prediction and Application of Ming-Style Luohan Beds Integrating Kansei Engineering and Integration Theory: An Exploration of Furniture Innovation from the Perspective of Contemporary Aesthetics

In order to explore the adaptability and expressiveness of Ming-style furniture form design in modern living environment, this study combines the Ming-style Luohan bed with contemporary aesthetic demands. Under the research framework of Kansei engineering, a morphological Kansei intention design process is proposed. (1) Analyse the Kansei intention of the Ming-style Luohan bed, use Factor Analysis (FA) to cluster 9 Kansei words into 3 Kansei semantic factors. (2) Use analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to calculate the relative weights of the Kansei semantic factors. (3) Deconstruct the Ming-style Luohan bed into 8 kinds of morphological features and 32 kinds of feature categories. (4) The quality function deployment (QFD) is used to extract 4 key morphological features that have an important impact on users‘ emotional needs. (5) the 2 feature categories with higher relative weight values among the 4 key morphological features are selected to be arranged and combined to form 16 morphological schemes for Ming-style Luohan beds, and the grey relation analysis (GRA) is used to determine the morphological feature scheme for Ming-style Luohan beds that best meets the users’ emotional needs. The integrated method is used to design a Ming-style Luohan bed that meets the user's emotional needs, and the feasibility of the design method is verified. The integrated AHP/QFD/GRA morphological Kansei intention design method can effectively enhance users’ visual perception and emotional needs for the product, standardise the modern design and evaluation process of Ming-style furniture, and provide reference examples for related furniture design.
