The article is focused on identifying the role of state support in the agricultural sector of the southern region in Russia. Based on statistical data for 2019–2023, the current financial condition of agricultural organizations in the Krasnodar region and investment activities are assessed based on state support. A model of multiple correlation and regression analysis for selective organizations has been implemented. The model shows the level of influence and the presence of relationship between state support and other factors on the cost of gross output. The results of the analysis made it possible to formulate the key problems in the agro-industrial complex market of the studied region: insufficient returns on state support, increasing debt and losses of agricultural companies and high costs of marketing products. Directions for solving these problems are identified in order to increase the efficiency of state subsidies, focused on modernizing the material and technical base and logistics infrastructure of companies, simplifying the procedure of providing loans to small and medium-sized companies as well as developing precision agriculture and animal husbandry to increase the competitiveness of both enterprises and the country.
