The use of medicinal preparations on the basis of plant raw materials has always been relevant in the history of world medicine development. Introduction and study of economic and biological features of medicinal plants in culture, especially those whose reserves in nature are sharply reduced, are of great interest for breeding and development of technologies for cultivation of plant raw materials and seeds. The aim of this work is to determine the efficiency of the introduction works and the use of various methods for selective development of introduced material of medicinal, spicy-aromatic and essential oil plants in the Stavropol Territory, Russian Federation. The research was carried out in the period from 1990 to 2024 on the experimental site of local research agrarian center. The results showed that the addition of new species into culture, introduction in combination with breeding allowed to create a line of varieties adapted to growing conditions with high indicators of economic and biological traits and properties. Using various methods and techniques of introduction and breeding works, a variety of source material for selection and new varieties of oregano, sage, melissa, fennel, motherwort, chamomile, medicinal goatgrass were obtained and entered in the state register of breeding achievements of the Russian Federation.
