This chapter discusses the role of information structure in the acceptability of straw man fallacies. The experiment shows that the success of a straw man can also depend on how the information is presented. It emerges that the order of the related segments (i.e., presenting the standpoint followed by the argument vs presenting the argument followed by the standpoint) has an impact on the perception of the straw man. The results show that the straw man is better accepted when the information conveyed by the fallacy follows the more traditional given-before-new order.
