Green Chemistry in Industrial Catalysis: Enhancements and Innovations
摘要
Catalysis occupies a distinctive role in sustainable industrial practices that have been integrated into the chemical sector over the preceding five decades. Nonetheless, these catalysts continue to exhibit a deficiency in selectivity within the industrial context. Green catalysts possess the capability to facilitate a variety of chemical reactions, thereby representing a crucial alternative to environmentally detrimental chemical processes. In this regard, the various types and challenges associated with conventional catalytic methodologies will be examined. Innovative catalytic materials, including those derived from biomass and renewable sources, advancements in biocatalysis, and metal-free catalysts, will be elucidated in detail. The examination of energy-efficient catalytic processes, along with waste minimization and by-product management within catalysis, will be illustrated through classic examples. Noteworthy instances of green catalytic innovations pertaining to the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and fine chemical sectors will be thoroughly explored. This chapter addresses the emerging materials and technologies pertinent to green catalysis.
