The western part of Rajasthan in India is vividly known for its hot and dry climate and deserted landscapes; this region faces significant challenges as an impact of climate changes. The region receives very scanty rainfall patterns, raising temperatures often associated with water scarcity, worsening existing climatic weaknesses. In response to overcome these associated challenges, the vernacular architectural practices, especially the planning strategies and materials of havelis in the region, offer adaptive solutions to mitigate the impact of climate change prevailing in the region. Havelis, traditional courtyard buildings located in Western Rajasthan, use passive cooling techniques, water collecting systems, and indigenous materials to deal with the intense heat. This abstract investigates the climate change concerns confronting Western Rajasthan and the adaptive response of haveli planning and materials to increase resilience in the built environment. By the introduction of ancient vernacular knowledge and practices into modern architectural designs, policymakers and communities can increase resilience and sustainability in the face of climate change.
