Up to now we have studied only static lattices, which fix the location of every node simultaneously, and then we smoothly transformed the lattice as a whole. This approach cannot represent the one-by-one developmental choices for node commitment, so now we will consider more general node-placement models. This chapter and the next provide a taste of a range of models that have usefully been deployed to understand Fibonacci phyllotaxis in this way.
