The European Green Deal and the respective regulations according to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) demands the elaboration for an interoperable European Digital Product Passport System (DPP-System). In this paper, an evaluation of major interoperable frameworks will be provided and improvements proposed for the application to support the design of such a DPP-System. The major outcome of this work is the extension of the Enterprise Interoperability Framework (EIF), as today standardized in ISO 11354, regarding artefacts of Internet of Things, Data Spaces and the combination of unified, integrated and federated approaches. In the outlook, demanded developments for better digitalization of regulation are in the focus.
