The chapter provides an exploration of the current state and challenges of Ukrainian education following the onset of the full-scale war. It presents research conducted in the third year of the war, offering an insight into the resilience of Ukrainian teachers amidst the violence and uncertainty. It includes results from the survey with teachers who faced extreme hardships due to missile strikes, power shortages, occupation, loss of homes, destruction of educational institutions, and internal or external displacement. The author explores the diverse and complex reactions of teachers in response to the outbreak of full-scale war on 24 February 2022, through an analysis of qualitative data collected via open-ended questions. The findings reveal a wide range of initial reactions, from efforts to maintain professional responsibilities and personal stability to the immediate physical and emotional impact of the war. A key focus in this chapter is on the coping mechanisms and resilience-building strategies employed by Ukrainian teachers, including social support, professional development, and self-care practices. The findings demonstrate a significant emphasis on professional growth and personal hobby activities, yet reveal a cautious approach to seeking social support and professional psychological help. This research underscores the critical role of teachers’ self-directed coping strategies and the potential barriers to relying on external support systems.
