Technological advancements in capsule endoscopy have given rise to a diverse array of capsule systems, each offering unique operational features and clinical applications. Notable contenders include Medtronic’s PillCam series, CapsoVision’s CapsoCam Plus system, and emerging systems from Chinese manufacturers like Jinshan and AnX Robotica. These systems embody a spectrum of technological capabilities, from high-speed imaging to streamlined designs, poised to address distinct clinical demands and patient requirements. Amid the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, disruptions in healthcare services have underscored the need for innovative solutions to ensure continuity of care. Feasibility studies exploring the delivery of CCE directly to patients’ homes have shown promising results, suggesting a paradigm shift in CRC screening that prioritises safety, convenience, and accessibility. As healthcare systems navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic, the integration of colon capsule endoscopy and telemedicine represents a transformative approach to CRC screening. These advancements hold the potential to mitigate the long-term impact of disrupted healthcare services and ensure continuity of care for patients worldwide. Further research and validation studies are warranted to fully realise the clinical utility and efficacy of telemedicine-enabled CCE in the post-pandemic era.
