The research investigated the influence of climate change on agriculture in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh in India. Secondary data pertaining to rainfall and temperature trends in the area were analyzed for the period spanning 2010 to 2018. The primary focus was on the climatic parameters, specifically rainfall and temperature and their repercussions on the production and productivity of key crops such as wheat, paddy, maize, potato, and ginger. The findings underscored greater fluctuation in rainfall during the Kharif season compared to the Rabi season. Meanwhile, temperature exhibited relatively less variation across both seasons during the same period. These climatic shifts exerted notable impacts on the production of major crops, with paddy being the most affected, followed by wheat, ginger, maize, and potato. Notably, the decline in productivity was most pronounced in paddy, followed by wheat and potato. To mitigate the adverse effects of climate change the study suggested that concerned authorities should strengthen extension facilities and timely updates on meteorological information to farmers etc. are crucial steps. It will empower farmers to adopt appropriate strategies in a timely manner and thereby reduce climate-related risks to agriculture. Furthermore, collaborative multidisciplinary efforts hold significant promise in safeguarding agriculture from the detrimental impacts of climate change.
