Emerging science and technology refer to novel and unestablished scientific and technological advancements that are not yet widely recognized, distinguishing them from existing technologies that have already permeated society. One example is genome-edited crops. The social success or failure of food technologies is largely influenced by public interest, concerns, perceptions, and expectations. Therefore, to facilitate the smooth integration of genome-edited crops into society, it is essential to understand and address public interest and concerns. This study aims to analyze individual attitudes toward food challenges and values based on the acceptance of genome-edited crops, knowledge, and personality traits, ultimately deriving insights that contribute to effective information dissemination. To achieve this, we classify and organize characteristics related to food challenges and values based on open-ended responses from a survey. Previous research has analyzed free-text responses in Japan. In this study, we conducted similar surveys in China and the United States. By analyzing the results from China and the United States alongside those from Japan, we examined the similarities and differences in the characteristics of each country.
