From Greeting to Guidance: Exploring Sanbot’s Capabilities for Enhanced Human-Robot Interaction at Public Events

This paper explores the potential of Android-based Sanbot ELF robots as assistants for managing attendee interactions at public events such as conferences, workshops, and fairs, focusing on their compatibility and effectiveness in delivering reliable, interactive, and user-friendly registration processes. Equipped with sensors, voice recognition, and touchscreen interfaces, the Sanbot ELF robot offers an innovative platform to enhance human-robot interaction in customer-facing environments like hospitals, hotels, and event venues. The study examines how Sanbot’s Android-based system can be optimised for tasks such as data entry, attendee identification, and information retrieval by integrating various Android applications. Key areas discussed include the robot’s compatibility with open-source Android frameworks, data entry mechanisms, and user interface design for smooth, intuitive interactions. Furthermore, the research investigates the integration of AI-based modules to personalise and streamline the registration experience, improving speed and accuracy. The paper evaluates the robot’s performance, reliability, and ability to address user queries through a graphical user interface (GUI) in real-world scenarios. The study concludes by analysing the advantages and limitations of utilising Android-based Sanbot ELF robots for custom app development, offering insights into future advancements that could enhance their utility across diverse professional settings, including healthcare, hospitality, and corporate environments.
