Mapping the Path of an English Teacher: Embracing Transformative Experiences from a Novice Teacher’s Perspective
摘要
In this chapter, the author reflects on the various challenges she encountered teaching English with limited experience, and the ways in which she overcame them. She highlights that the art of teaching and the acquisition of pedagogical skills are often best developed through the hands-on experience of guiding students, something she discovered firsthand during her relatively brief time as a teacher. From the beginning, she faced ongoing struggles in her classes, often feeling that her lessons were simpler and less comprehensive compared to those of more seasoned teachers. Each class concluded with moments of disappointment and reflection, driving her to approach each task with renewed diligence and commitment. Fortunately, with the support and guidance of her colleagues, she was able to strengthen her teaching skills more effectively than if she had relied solely on her own efforts. Additionally, accompanying students on an overseas programme provided her with further valuable insights. She is deeply grateful for the support she received from her colleagues and believes that many readers will resonate with similar experiences from the early stages of their teaching careers. With her unique, fresh perspective as a newer teacher, she hopes to offer readers meaningful reflections on the teaching profession.
