Emotional learning is of great importance to children. This paper proposes the CCMM Emotional Design Framework, which aims to enhance the educational effectiveness and reading experience of interactive picture books on the theme of emotional education. It includes four key elements: character setting, choices design, metaphor expression, and multimodal feedback. Based on this, we have put forward some principles for creation and co-designed an interactive picture book called Hello, Emotions. We then conducted a preliminary validation of the framework through a user experiment with 24 participants. The results show that our picture book can improve children’s gains in emotional learning. Children who used the interactive picture book achieved better learning outcomes and reading experience. This study provides new ideas for the design of interactive picture books for children.
