Visualization design can help health knowledge spread efficiently among the public in a more intuitive, graphic, and vivid form, thus enhancing the public's health literacy level. As an important factor in organizing and structuring knowledge units in visualization design, narrative sequence influences the expression form of visualization design and the public's understanding and emotional experience of health knowledge. Starting from a narrative perspective, this study explores the impact of two sub-dimensions of narrative sequences, presentation speed, and presentation path, on health knowledge visualization design and uses them as a guide for related design practices. A two-factor 3 × 3 between-subjects experiment revealed that both presentation speed and presentation path had a significant effect on the design effect with no interaction. The slow presentation speed significantly increased the design effect at all levels of the presentation path, especially in health attitude, behavioral intention, and satisfaction. The fast presentation speed significantly increased design effects only at the nonlinear path level, with a significant advantage in satisfaction. In the health knowledge visualization design, it is recommended to adopt the narrative sequence of “slow speed and nonlinear path,” which can optimize the effect of knowledge presentation and help the audience understand the health knowledge.

摘要
