Designing for Women’s Health Condition Sharing and Emotional Support
摘要
Women’s menstrual health remain insufficiently prioritized in worldwide, despite being a vital aspect of women’s overall well-being. Many women face challenges such as limited access to accurate information, widespread societal stigma, and inadequate healthcare systems when dealing with menstruation or other physiological health problems. This study aims to understand the cultural and individual factors that influence the awareness and management of menstrual health among women in Japan, China, and the United States using a user experience analysis methodology (UX). To address this, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 11 existing users regarding their experiences and needs related to menstrual health management. Our finding reveals two key points (1) that the platform facilitates information sharing and emotional connection among users, and (2) that users value customized features that effectively balance privacy with community engagement. From the findings, we discuss the importance of designing user-centric features that support emotional well-being while addressing privacy concerns.
