Digital Literacies and Translating Cultural Items
摘要
So far, this book has concerned itself mainly with areas related to pedagogical theory and practice; but it has not addressed the role of technology in the translation of cultural items, other than suggesting that research skills are a vital aspect of that undertaking and that convenience-driven research, such as cursory online searches, may not be the wisest cause of action for the translator who wants to expand their cultural knowledge base or verify the feasibility of a translation solution. And while the data presented thus far in this book are indeed manually generated translations, we will now consider what contributions machine translation (MT) and more recent generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be able to make.
