In line with the Pedagogical Imperative, observations and findings from classroom-based research should feed into revisiting theory that informs our teaching, our engagement with learners and the design of our lessons, modules and programmes. For instance, it is vital to consider what, e.g., the lack of statistically significant progress within the confines of ‘Translating Culture’ suggests about a social-constructivist, workshop-based classroom approach. But this consideration must take into account all available factors. It would be a grave mistake to let the p-value decide on the success (or lack thereof) of a module. After all, all it does is indicate whether changes in student scores can be safely attributed to the intervention. That was not the case here. However, there is also evidence that the translation of cultural items is perhaps not as problematic or does not have to be as terrifying as some voices introduced in Chap. 2 make it out to be. So, in any research effort of this nature, we need to maintain a balanced view that transparently acknowledges limitations in our work but also celebrates its strengths—arguably the very essence of reflection.

摘要
