This book analyses the development of competition law systems in the Western Balkans (WB) countries—Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia—over the past three decades. We focus on examining the impact of aligning their legal systems with EU competition law. Alongside detailed national reports examining individual jurisdictions, the final comparative chapter provides a horizontal examination of the WB’s competition law systems. In this pioneering study, we collect and analyse empirical data for WB jurisdictions from 2012 to 2022—encompassing both institutional and enforcement data—providing unique and original insights into the development of competition law systems in these countries.
