Rehabilitative therapies using serious games can increase patient motivation, resulting in a positive influence on therapy outcomes. However, it is necessary to assess whether the technology causes engagement or increases disinterest in patients during interaction. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the flow of experience of individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) when interacting with the RehaBEElitation serious game, a technological support tool for PD rehabilitation and monitoring. Twelve individuals participated in this study, six with PD and six healthy subjects, matched in age and sex. The flow experience was assessed using the Circumplex Model of Affect (CMA), the Short Flow State Scale (SFSS) and the heart rate of the participants. T-test was used to verify statistically significant differences between groups. The CMA revealed that the majority of EG participants were engaged in the activity, and that a state of calm prevailed among CG individuals. The final SFSS score and heart rate of the EG participants were higher than those of the CG. It is possible to conclude that the experience generated greater engagement (i.e., flow of experience) in individuals with PD compared to healthy subjects.
