Development of a Sensorized Game Therapy Platform to Aid in Balance Rehabilitation for Amputee Patients

Individuals with lower limb loss require balance and posture rehabilitation to adapt to amputation. With advances in digital technologies, game therapy has become an important ally in physiotherapeutic treatments, bringing greater patient engagement. In this context, this work aims to propose and develop a sensorized platform for monitoring and controlling the balance of lower limb amputee patients, based on game therapy with serious games. An adaptable structure for the height of the amputation and another as a foot base were developed, both containing a sensor system for pressure monitoring. The collected data were stored and processed using a Raspberry Pi, used to control a virtual game. Thus, an innovative solution was developed, allowing quantitative assessment of rehabilitation, making it more reliable for healthcare professionals and more motivating for the patient, contributing to their well-being and quality of life recovery.
